2. Services
Syncropic provides: a documentation site (docs.syncropel.com), an integrated operations environment (Studio at syncropel.com), a CLI toolchain (spl), SDKs (Python, TypeScript), and a hosted service. All services are in active development.
3. Accounts
Some services require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and for all activity under your account.
4. Acceptable Use
You may use the services for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to circumvent security controls, reverse engineer proprietary components, or disrupt the service for others.
5. Intellectual Property
Protocol (Syncropel): the specification is open (CC-BY-SA-4.0) and anyone may implement it; the SDKs are open source (Apache-2.0); the spl binary is free to run for any purpose, including commercial use, under the Business Source License 1.1, which converts to Apache-2.0 on a schedule written into each release. Its source is not yet public; we intend to publish it at 1.0.
Studio and hosted services: Business Source License 1.1, converting to Apache-2.0 on the same schedule.
Your content: you retain ownership of your data and governance policies.
6. Disclaimers
Services are provided “as is” during this pre-revenue period. We do not guarantee uptime or availability. Some features may be in beta or preview.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Syncropic Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the services.
8. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.
The SDKs we publish are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. You may obtain a copy of the license at: apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0
The spl binary is free to download and run for any purpose, including production and commercial use, under the Business Source License 1.1; the one use that license does not permit is reselling Syncropel itself as a hosted service, for which a commercial license is available. Every release converts to Apache-2.0 four years after it ships, on a schedule written into its license. The kernel source is not yet public; we intend to publish it once the protocol reaches 1.0. Our terms only ever loosen. The published SDKs are available at npmjs.com/org/syncropel and pypi.org/project/syncropel. Documentation is at docs.syncropel.com.
We are committed to proper attribution of the open-source components we depend on. If you believe we have failed to properly attribute one, please contact legal@syncropic.com.
Patent Pending. Syncropic Inc. holds a portfolio of provisional patent applications covering core innovations in the Syncropel protocol.
Defensive purpose. These patents exist to protect the protocol from enclosure, not to restrict its use. Our patent portfolio is a defensive shield: it ensures that no entity, including Syncropic Inc., can patent the protocol's foundations and use them against the people building on it. We intend to publish a non-assertion pledge; its text is in counsel review.
What this means for you. If you are using the Apache-2.0 SDKs, that license carries a perpetual, irrevocable patent grant for what you build on them. Users of the spl binary within its license terms, and implementers of the open specification, will be covered by the pledge when it is published.

No Syncropel license grants trademark rights. You may describe your use of the protocol (e.g., “built on Syncropel”) but may not use the Syncropic or Syncropel names or logos in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without written permission.
